Cingular is a scary place to deal with if you have ANY problems. In my case 2 things went wrong: a) I ordered 2 phones on-line b) the phones they sent to me were defective.
As others have noted in their comments - their customer service is truly awful. Probably the most horrific in the industry. I have gone through the most sickening experience with them.
I sent a Sony Ericcson phone back to Cingular after the screen started blinking erratically. This happened within 5 days of having the phone. They sent me a prepaid return label and I sent it back to Cingular just like they told me. I ordered a replacement phone. That also did not work correctly. I also had to send that back, which I did right away with a prepaid label they sent to me. Unfortunately, these orders were placed on-line with a credit card, so when I called to see when I was going get a credit on my card, they gave me the run around. They said it would take 1-2 months. OK. I wait that time out, and then when I called Customer Service, they tell me -- I DIDN'T RETURN THE PHONES, I HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, IT'S MY PROBLEM.
I nearly lost my mind. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE! After almost a half a dozen phone calls, I got on the phone ONE lone customer service rep who became like an angel of light. She finally cut through the layers of incompetent boobs to find the information that I needed - YES they received the phones back and I should get a credit. This was in September. It is now November and I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN MY CREDIT. I now had to talk another group of incompetent, rude and condescending customer service reps basically telling me I was lying about the phones being returned and that they couldn't confirm that the phones were returned. Thankfully due to diligence and determination, I finally reached another set of individuals who I think cleaned up this mess (with Cingular you are never sure!).
Stay away from these incompetent idiots. If you are looking for decent customer service - try T-Mobile. As soon as my contract is over, I'm done with these pathetic folks.
