My shopping experience at Backcountry was excellent! I was able to find my item, place my order and then track it all on their site. Since I am not a big fan of UPS, I was pleased to find they offered USPS shipping instead. My order was in my hands in three days.

Backcountry.com sucks! First order from them was a Patagonia R2 at a great price. Got it but it wasn't an R2!!! It was R2 material that backcountry.com has sewn (cheaply) into lame vests. Customer Service couldn't understand why I wanted to return it.

I will never order from backcountry.com again. After accepting my order, sitting on it for 3 days, allowing a weekend to pass, and then telling me over the phone that they had shipped my order, I received an email indicating the ski boot I had ordered was out of stock and no more were due in. In other words, they screwed me over and made no effort to accommodate me in any way.

Backcountry.com had the best email communication I've seen. I never had any doubts about the status of my order. They notified me when the order was placed and when it shipped. They included a tracking number for UPS and a link to the UPS website.

Usually ships within 24 hours....WRONG. When I ordered with these guys I specifically asked, "When will this ship?" "Oh, today, for sure!" It has been a week since I placed my order, and I called three times for a tracking number, which no one seemed to be able to give me, then yesterday, one of the customer service fellows checked on with the shipping department and found my package was still sitting on the dock. He said that one of the guys in the shipping department had been on vacation. What is the worst part of all this? I only live 4 hours from Salt Lake City (the location of backcountry.com) and what should have taken a couple of days to arrive STILL has not been shipped, one week later...I called to cancel the order, but no one seemed to be able to help with that either....

Wonderful experience. When I tried to order a green Metolius simulator on-line, you couldn't specify color. I called, they patched me through to the warehouse to confirm that they had one in stock, and they sent out my order that day. Helpful, quickly resolved, and I received my training board in about a week.

I was looking for a light-weight, yet warm jacket for the winter. I researched several different jackets. I decided to get some input from the people at Backcountry on which one would best suit my needs. I was very impressed by there knowledge of products and their outstanding service. Needless to say I bought the the jacket I was looking for from Backcountry. They know about and believe in what they sell. I will go to Backcountry for all of my outdoor needs.

Very quick delivery, I ordered boots at a clearance price, they did not have them in stock, so they had LaSportiva send them directly. The boots actually arrived sooner than the ones I ordered which were in stock, that showed up the next day. Products were exactly as ordered, they were friendly and helpful on the phone.

I appreciate the descriptions of all the products. Sometimes it may be a little confusing when trying to find certain products: e.g. ski gloves were under some vague categories. The free shipping option makes this site a priority to visit; however, the prices on most of the products are not always competitive with other stores.

Apparently there was confusion of credit card, the store did a small charge to see if it was accepted and sent an email telling me to check, but I didn't get to my email for over a week and the order was cancelled. If it was a security issue I appreciate it, but the process certainly caused a delay and possible loss of order.

I have bought this product before from a bicycle retailer -- a physical shop, not online -- and the product they sold me was a display item and in the wrong packaging.
