There are better books on the market than this one

This book was a good overview of applying to dental school but missed many of the intricate details of successfully applying. As a pre-dental counsellor at UCLA, I can say that much of the information in this book can be found on the internet. For a more comprehensive guide, try the ultimate dental school guide by aly kanani at pre-dental.com As a more experienced predental advisor, his book is much more useful.

Barnes & Noble: Not the Best On- Line Book Store, but it Works

Barnes & Noble is probably the most recognized name in books, with book stores in most every medium to large city across the United States. These physical location stores are clean and well- stocked and they have elevated Barnes & Noble to the top of the

Barnes & Noble is one of my favorite stores. They have a hefty selection of computer books, better than BAM.COM AKA Books A Million, and they concentrate on selling books, in contrast, Amazon sells everything but the kitchen sink. I started shopping

AWESOME, EASY and QUICK!

I recently purchased a few books from Barnes and Noble.com and could not believe how easy it was and how fast I got my books. I thought o I will order these and get them sometime around when I forget I ordered it, but a few short days later it appeared in my mail. The web site was easily accessed and quick to pop on through, then like I said boom it was in my mail. I got the email saying it was coming and the next day it was there. I highly recommend your book needs be filled by Barnes and Nobles.com!

Miserable -- head back to Amazon!!!
by mjnyny, May 7, 2004

A complete joke. They promise delivery in 24 hours in Manhattan, looking at the site 3 days later and it now says 14 days -- no ability to cancel. In the ordering area the book is still listed for 24 hour delivery.
Even better, B&N.com say one book shipped 3 days ago and give a link to the USPS which shows they were merely notified it was about to ship today -- not even that it had been received. I was willing to try it, even when having to pay higher prices & tax, but never again! |

When I first walked into Barnes and Noble I was like "Whoa too rich for my blood" cause I'm a teen barely in high school, no means of transportation, and no job whatsoever. It's like walking into a Starbucks with Dunkin Doughnuts money.
After I started looking around, I realized that had all the things that I needed and more all for a very good price, plus they had a coffee shop, Starbucks ironically, where you can chill and read the free papers and magazines left out for you. You can even bring your kids here or a very simple minded sibling like my 16 year old older sister who say in the childrens room with four and five year olds listening Maisy read her first book ever. |

I've used Barnes & Noble's online store (bn.com) since it's inception in the late 90s. As a stand-alone web site, it is a poor second to Amazon.com, but when combined with the reach of the many Barnes & Noble stores scattered all over suburbia, it

Tedious and Unrewarding

Their shipping sucks! Free or not, passing off a shipment to a misnamed organization called Drop Ship 'Express' so they can hold it for a full day, then take another day passing it off to the USPS (the worst, most unreliable and least customer oriented shipper available in America) and then finally getting the package to actually start it's 3 to 8 day trip to my local P.O. for pickup is unacceptable in this day and age of quick reliable shipping methods.
This is my first and last order with Barnes and Noble because of this stone age shipping arrangement. |

Store is fairly easy to navigate and makes giving gifts on short notice easy. I had my gift giftwraped and mailed to my father on time. I don't like the ad emails I get and had to remember my password and sign in to stop them, it should just have an opt out link in the email.

About two weeks ago, I was actually in Barnes & Noble trying to locate a newly released book that I have been waiting months to get my hands on. I had no luck in finding my book or a person to help me. I was in a hurry so I just left. Later that evening I came to the online store and was pleased to find my book almost immediately. The website is ridiculously easy to navigate and my order arrived in just 4 business days! I was very satisfied with this entire experience and will be ordering from the online store again.

Barnes and Nobles is a great bookstore. If they do not have it .... they will order it. The variety is great. I am always amazed at the selection of books available in their bargain book area. I usually wait to buy my hardbacks in that section since they are often 1/5 the original price. The only problem that you occasionally experience is lack of sales staff at the checkout counters.

Barnes & Noble.com or bn.com is a store I frequent. I belong to their reader's advantage club and find their online store excellent. I know that if the store in my home town doesn't have what I need, the website will.
The last book I bought was purchased with great ease and was delivered in just under a week. I am very satisfied with Barnes & nobel. |

Barnes & Noble.com is very easy to use and user-friendly. It is easy to find what you are looking for and they have a large selection and a wide variety of products. They have a variety of shipping options and the standard shipping still arrives in reasonable time. I have not had any problems with their customer service so far and I have not had many instances where something has gone wrong. They are very helpful and friendly. I was overall happy with Barnes & Noble.com Online Store but I would like to see some lower prices.

I have used Barnes and Noble.com several times to buy books for myself and as gifts. Most recently I purchased some holiday gifts during their holiday sale. Even with the crazy mail schedules during the Holidays, they stuck to their delivery schedule and I received my items perfectly on time.
Although the prices may be higher than Amazon, having a reader's advantage card and constant offers for free shipping make up for it. |

I recently contacted Barnes and Noble to see if I could sell my college used textbooks back to them since the college bookstore would give a very small amount of money to me, five dollars. Professional and sometimes cheaper than Amazon.com
by afhouston, January 3, 2004

Barnes and Noble is sometimes cheaper than Amazon.com and I use it as a strong second choice. Shipping cost and speed is on par with Amazon. Orders are accurate and the books are delivered new, clean and in good packaging. The website is a little more difficult to use than Amazon's, slightly, but the $2-5 cost savings more than makes up for it.

Shop there anytime I need a textbook for school. The prices are awesome, shipping rates are lower than most, delivery is quick, and customer service is excellent. I use to go to Amazon.com a lot, and after having a few deliver problems, I switched to Barnes & Noble. I still shop at Amazon, but love Barnes & Noble for books. There selections online were very good, and the prices do not hurt your wallet. I am truly impressed.

Good for what they have; poor for overall selection
by publishing196, December 18, 2003
|

Barnes and Noble does not, in any way, shape or form, compare to Amazon.com. Amazon.com endeavors to list all titles of all publishers; Barnes and Noble refuses to list or carry the titles of publishers who do not accede to Barnes and Noble's terms for buying books from those publishers. Their site does not give a true picture of what is available as opposed to that of Amazon. Moreover, Barnes and Noble's data base search is incomparable to that of Amazon.com. While Barnes and Noble is a good retail bookseller, their internet site is vastly inferior to that of Amazon.com.

I ordered two books which were in stock on Nov. 24 2003 and I requested both to be shipped together. They shipped them separately and I still have not received the second one. They just handed it over to USPS now (more than 2 weeks later!!!). I have to expect it now in 3-8 business days. It takes them forever to pack a book. This is unacceptable. All other stores I have shopped at ship much faster. So - be ware.

I have never had a problem with Barnes and Noble.com in the past. I have however, this time. I have been waiting for several days (3 past the date set) for a package. Barnes and Noble has a wide selection of music, books and videos. On this Journey I was buying the Black album by Jay-Z (doyou believe they had his entire collection all under $13.00). The price was about the best price I've seen online and retail. What's even better??? If your a member get a discount! And shipping is really really cheap like 99 cents!(for each book but still, its good!) Plus it ships in 2-3 days and you can pre-order for a small additional charge!
