Barrie Pace sells nice clothes but has lousy customer service and a total mess in their record-keeping/accounting (if not purposeful cheating, hard to tell).

1. In March, I ordered a dress and it arrived promptly but was too large. I filled out an exchange form asking for a smaller size and dropped off the package at UPS using Barrie Pace label.

2. Two weeks later, no dress in sight. I called Barrie Pace 1-800 and learned they knew nothing about my exchange. They asked me to go back to UPS and get the tracking number. I did not even remember the date of my UPS drop-off. It took UPS half an hour to find my record and the tracking number. In addition.... I found out that the dress was delivered back to Barrie Pace... 10 days earlier! But when I called, my return & exchange was not even in their system.

3. When I called Barrie Pace back with the tracking number and complained that they should have long had the record in their system, the lady was not sorry at all. She asked me a lot of questions (like item # etc) that should be in their record of the original transaction. She told me that they only had 2 dresses left in the size that I wanted in exchange for the original size and she will ask her supervisor to hold one dress for me.

4. Next day, I received an automated email from Barrie Pace saying "we regret you did not like the dress, we are processing a refund." -- ??? In this company one person does not know what the other person is doing. it is like they do not have a system that keeps track of the order.

5. Last and worst, a credit statement for last month arrived the same day as the email about my return. I discovered that I have been charged twice for the dress: Once the day after my order and again five days later. When I called their 1-800, the rep told me a supervisor "needs to look at it" because they are showing only one charge in their records. A supervisor was not available and will not be there until after the weekend.

I have learned my lesson not to shop at Barrie Pace again despite the nice clothes they sell. I will get my money back one way or another but it may be a hassle and a big waste of my time (on top of the time I have already wasted). In sum, stay away from Barrie Pace. They need to lose business at best and have some kind of an audit at worst to scrutinize their charging and record keeping practices.
