I wanted a Tempur-Pedic bed. I always research my purchases, especially when they're $2,000. I don't remember how I got to Habitat, but when I did I found the most comprehensive write-up on Tempur-Pedic on the web.
I called Marc at Habitat and selected the King Deluxe. Didn't need the platform as I already had one from my Somma waterbed. No problem, just subtract $300. No argument, no pressure!
With Tempur-Pedic, the price is the price. Anybody discounting the purchase price is either illegal or selling knock-offs. So the only advantage is tax, shipping & setup costs, and any freebee's.
My local store had the price, and would even throw in a free pillow, but delivery & setup was $60, and there was that 8% tax.
With Habitat, I got 2 pillows, no tax, and free delivery & setup. Expected to wait 2 weeks for delivery. I got it in 4 days!
There was a hiccup. The delivery guy was alone and wearing a tie! He was going to take it off the truck -and that's all! I called Marc, he called ABT Trucking and within 10 minutes a manager from ABT called me and told me that it WAS their fault, Habitat had specified and paid for setup, but ABT got the order wrong. They said they could return in 2 days and do the setup. I'd already taken down the Somma, and its 9 water tubes and did NOT want to reassemble the waterbed so I had the driver put the Tempur-Pedic in my garage.
I called a buddy and we wrestled the 145 lb. mattress up to my second floor bedroom.
ABT called again to apologize, and so did Marc.
I love my Tempur-Pedic and couldn't be happier with Habitat. I've already recommended them to friends and family. I could write another page just on the bed.
I don't go out of my way with recommendations, but I've used the ones here at Epinions, so I do feel its only right to offer mine.
