Thanks to the digital broadcast conversion (and several boxes of VHS recordings of broadcast programming we still need to watch) it's time to upgrade our VCR and add DVD recording capability. After searching for a low-price  DVDR/VHS recorder with a digital tuner, I stumbled on J&R Music and Computer World Online and found exactly what I needed.  Since I've never owned a DVD recorder before, I decided not to spend a mint to get the "latest and greatest". I wanted instead to get a less expensive unit to "live with" for a while in order to determine exactly which features we really need the most. On J&R's website, I found a fabulous low price on a refurbished, top-line, well-reviewed, brand-name unit that would let me get my feet wet. Not being exactly sure what I would get, I opted to phone in my order instead of submitting online.  The customer service rep. who took my order was knowledgeable, friendly and professional--and the order proceeded like clockwork! When I mentioned that even though I wanted to save money, I was somewhat hesitant to purchase a refurbished unit--he told me about J&R's affordable extended warranty.  SOLD!!! The unit arrived safely and very well-packaged at my office at LIGHT SPEED (Much to my surprise, since I didn't upgrade to express shipping. Go figure!) So far, the unit's working like a "champeen", but thanks to the extended warranty I purchased as well, I'm not worried about problems.  I'd recommend J&R to anyone! In fact, I WILL recommend J&R to EVERYONE! ;-)
