Full review
Ive been a faithful shopper of
Lands End for some time. Originally, I shopped through the store at our local mall. It closed after a period of time (although now
Lands End clothing is available at Sears), and then Id shop from time to time through the catalog. I always liked the clothing available through
Lands End. It seemed to be higher quality and wear better than other clothing I purchased. Unfortunately, with the better quality also came a higher price tag.
I was always thrilled to get the
Lands End overstock catalog and ordered from it almost every time it arrived in my mailbox. You can imagine how thrilled I was when the website launched, complete with an overstock section!
The overstock section is updated at the
Lands End online store every Wednesday and Saturday. Everything here is broken down into separate categories for the home, gifts & luggage, men, women, and kids. There are some terrific values at up to 80% off of the regular catalog prices. Sometimes every color or size is not available, but the selection here can be very good.
For instance, a polartec jacket which originally sold for $45 was reduced to $29.50 in the overstock section. A reversible down jacket originally listed at $76 was reduced to $39.50. A backpack which originally sold for $32 was now listed at $17.50.
Although I usually shop the overstock area, I do enjoy the rest of the site quite a bit. One of the main features I like, which also functions in the overstock area, is the
My Model feature. Here you can create a model based on your approximate body measurements (or that of anyone in your family) and get an idea of how the clothes selected will look. There is fashion advice available as well as the ability to virtually try-on outfits. Below the picture of clothing there is a prompt to try it on.
This virtual model functions really well, allowing me to try different outfit combinations as well as colors with the click of my mouse. I can gauge how a particular color will look against my complexion, as well as with my hairstyle. This is more helpful than shopping for clothes on the web without trying it on, something that was hard for me to do.
The styles here tend to be what I would term business casual, or even sporty. There is nothing outrageous at the site nor anything too conservative. The styles tend to travel the middle of the road, and I can usually find something that is comfortable as well as flattering quite easily.
The site is quite easy to navigate with tabs at the top of the main page for
Women,
Men,
Kids,
For The Home,
Luggage, and
Special Collections. Once Ive selected a product that Im interested in, there is quite a bit of information given about the garment or product - much more than Ive found at some other sites. While browsing an item there is also a prompt for live help through an online customer service representative. This is great for any questions which can arise.
Lands End seems to be a company very supportive and appreciative of its customers.
The shipping charges are reasonable. Standard shipping is through UPS, and expedited shipping is available at an additional charge. I have always received anything Ive ordered right on time or early, and never had to return anything or had something missing from an order - and this is having ordered from them for at least 8-10 years. If the package is being shipped as a gift, a message may be included for free.
Lands End accepts Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express for payment.
To top off the great prices in the overstock area, I can usually find an offer of a rebate through Ebates, Upromise, or
Mypoints. There are also online coupons floating around from time to time at sites like Mycoupons, but I can also sign up on the
Lands End website for a newsletter with deals, or have a catalog sent to my home for free.
Ill continue to do quite a bit of my clothes shopping through
Lands End. The quality is superb and the shopping very easy and customer-oriented. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this site to anyone whos fashion tastes fall into this category.
