I was charged for items they don't have

I ordered two items online for instore pick up. The LTN web site confirmed that the items were available for pick up. I received an email confirming that LNT received my order and it said "You will not be charged for any item(s) until you receive an e-mail confirming that they are ready to be picked up in-store". The next day I received an email stating that the order had been cancelled because the item was in fact not available for in-store pickup. BUT THEY WENT AHEAD AND CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD ANYWAY!!!! A call to their customer service department was a waste of time - they just kept insisting that the charge to my account was not a "charge" but a "pre-authorization". My bank said it was "a charge against the account until the merchant reverses it."

LNT customer service said it would take 3 to 5 business days to reverse the charge and credit my account. Why would it take 3 to 5 days to credit when it only took them 15 seconds to charge the account? They are obviously working off the float on the funds. Sure, it is a small amount for me, but multiply that small amount by the thousands they probably do this to every day and it adds up to some real dollars.
