Heres the Skinny about PrimeStyle
I purchased a three stone emerald cut diamond ring from this website (Stock Number 15231-14). The website cost was less than $2,200. I have been doing some retail shopping, since my wedding was approaching, and this same style ring was listed in stores for well over $3,500.
So I called PrimeStyle and spoke to David, he answered a lot of questions that I asked him. He was very helpful, with the order-processing portion of my sale. So after I slept on it, wondering should I purchase a diamond ring over the Internet, I called PrimeStyle again with more questions, and reached David again. By the way, I think David is the only salesman that works there. So, I asked Primestyle if I can fly to New York to visit their store, and David advised me that it is not a store, but a manufacture. So no store front, more red flags. So, I slept on it another night, and then said what the hell, and purchased the ring. BUT, I knew that Primestyle had many rings of the stock just lying around. So what did I do, was make them special order your ring, sure it will cost more, but they have to make it from scratch. Kind of asking for no salt on French fries theory.
With the thought all the reviews from Epinions in mind about the return policy, I purchased the ring. Instead of 1.95 ct ring, I went to 2.1ct, with upgrades to color from H-J, to G-H, and clarity to VVS2-VS1 from VS2-SI. This made the price around $3,500 for this upgraded ring.
Waiting everyday with anticipation to see the ring is nerve racking, but I managed. After a week of waiting, I called Primestyle to check the status, and they gave me the run around (which only consists of three people). But they advised me that it would ship tomorrow on 2-day air. So, I called back the next day for a tracking number, and they gave me the run around again, same three people. Another day passed and finally I receive an email concerning the shipment. The shipped it a day late, but shipped it overnight.
Once I received the ring it was beautiful, center stone .92 and the two sides .35 each. All these stones were clear and white. The only thing I was kind of upset about was the band diamonds (six princess cut on band). They were not the same quality as the three main stones. Dont get me wrong, they were not bad, but not like the three main stones. I brought the ring to several jewelry stores, and they said that it is a good ring, and a quick appraisal was for around $5,500 not the $14,000 that was on the certificate. Also, the diamonds are not GIA certified. An independent third party jeweler certifies them.
The skinny,
I think I made a good purchase, and would like to thank Primestyle, for putting a dent in my pocket, and a smile on my wifes face.
But the customer service after the order is processed was disappointing. I understand that they run a small operation, but they have to understand that people do not spend $4,000 over the Internet, on a diamond ring that they never seen.
If I were the deciding factor on purchasing from Primestyle, I would say its your money. You make the decision, but always make changes to your purchase.
