Okay, here's the deal on my transaction with Primestyle...
Like some other posters, I was a skeptical. This was my first jewelry purchase online and I was looking for a ring for my wife of 20 years (she never got one then cause I was broke at the time - and she married me anyway!)
After HOURS searching the web, I kept coming back to Primestyle for their price/quality compared to everywhere else. And the overall rating here was positive.
So, here's what happened...
I ordered a ring, upgraded the stones and metal, requested overnight shipping. After two days, talked to Suzanne in customer service (very pleasant and professional). Discovered they make everything to order (about a 3 day process), she said would have it by Tuesday.
Tuesday came and went. Nothing.
Turned out, because I requested a different ship to address than the billing address on my Paypal credit card (work not home so as to surprise my wife) they needed verification. Faxed a copy of my order and my ID. Couple more days...nothing.
Called back, turned out fax not received (they get faxes thru email server had some kind of server issue). Finally, emailed a scan of my ID directly to Michael...followed up by phone. Scan received, "you'll have it tomorrow."
Ring arrived next day. Beautiful ring. Beautiful stones. Beautiful, classy ring box.
Gave it to my wife, discovered I ordered wrong size (my fault - the online sizing sheet I printed out printed wrong size. Took ring to local jeweler to resize...they said ring was beautiful, great stones...and minor defect in one of the prong tips on center stone.
Talked to Michael, then David at Primestyle by phone and online chat. Got RMA to return ring for repair (and they resize for 19.99 as opposed to $60 by local jeweler).
Sent ring back. 10 days and one phone call from Michael (to confirm size and prong issue) later, ring is back on my wife's finger.
Perfect fit, prong repaired.
So, some bumps in the road but a GREAT ENDING. My wife loves her ring (showed it to several female co-workers prior to giving it to her...had to wipe up the drool) and we are planning on ordering the matching wedding band very soon.
PS about my wife. She worked around jewelry and diamonds in her grandfather's pawn shop for several years. Not an "expert" but has a good idea of jewelry value...she's very pleased with her ring. And very pleased I didn't pay "retail."
Some, final advice...
If you fax Primestyle, follow up by phone to confirm receipt.
If you need to size a ring, you can print out a good sizing sheet from Amazon.com - JUST BE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRINTING IT OUT OR THE SIZES WILL NOT BE RIGHT (oops).
If you want Primestyle to ship to an address other than your credit card or Paypal address, be sure to communicate this when placing your order to avoid delays.
And...as someone who has dealt with many upset customers (as well has having been an upset customer myself), you'll get better service by using good manners, being polite, stating your needs clearly and giving the vendor (any vendor) the opportunity to make it right (don't just assume they want to screw you).
So, thanks Primestyle for a lovely ring that my wife is bonkers with.
UPDATE -
Last weekend I ordered the matching wedding band to go with my wife's engagement ring.
They had some kind of system error that caused my Paypal payment to not register correctly...long story short, got charged twice.
Call Primestyle first thing Monday morning - customer service put me through to David immediately. He confirmed the double-charge, made sure he had all my order info correct.
Same day, had my refund. End of the week, had the new ring. Just as beautiful as the first one. Everything went great.
Needless to say, my wife is REALLY happy now...
Last thought: I've been in retail and customer service related jobs for years now. Lots of experience with upset customers. You know what, problems happen...even with the best of products and/or services. It's how the problems are resolved that counts.
Primestyle has handled everything just fine.
