I ordered a Home Theater system fully knowing how bad Tiger Direct's reputation was. However, I thought, "They can't screw everyone, right?" I quickly found out why Tiger Direct had such a bad reputation.
The item description was dishonest. It was billed as a open box item that had underwent a "rigorous 7 point check" but instead I was told on the phone that it was a refurb that had not been checked out at all. One operator's solution for this was for me to buy a $50 2 year warranty on the item because he couldn't guarantee the replacement would arrive in working order.
My attempts to exchange the item were met with a constantly moving "carrot and stick" backorder date, so I asked for a refund. I am currently on my 9th attempt to get my money back with no luck. Each time I call, I am told that this will be last time I have to ask and the request has been submitted. Each time I call back I am told that it didn't go through but it will be resubmitted and that I won't have to call back. Next week will be the 4th week I have been asking for my money back.
If you do have to order from these crooks, use Paypal. I have heard that they are afraid of Paypal desputes.
