I placed an order for a wallpaper mural on 01/22/08 and within one hour my account was charged. Well, after several delays involving backorders they informed me on 03/10/08 that the item was discontinued. So I requested a refund and was told I had to wait 2 billing cycles (60 days).
After the 60 days expired and still no refund, I began calling their customer service dept and was given the run around by several sales reps (Deb, Angela) in addition to a manager (Beckie). They basically stated that it was up to 'accounting' and they had no control over refunds - couldn't even provide an expected date. I decided to file complaints at the Better Business Bureau, Federal Trade Commission, and Yahoo! merchants customer support. The BBB gave them a 14 day deadline to respond to my complaint and, wouldn't you know, on the 14th day they credited my account!
This is an unacceptable business practice, consider this: if I ordered through Paypal, the deadline for filing a dispute is 30 days. Well, their policy is to wait 60 days to refund - so by the time you realize you've been scammed it's too late to take action. In addition, if I was late with a payment by over 3 months they would have charged me interest. Where's the interest owed to me? Plus, most reputable online vendors don't even charge your account until the items have shipped.
I suggest that anyone else with similar problems file complaints so they can stop scamming people, here's the links:
