What makes a house a home? Thats a tough question. To me, a home is created when loved ones live in it, family and friends visit, something delicious is cooking in the oven, and theres not a single aspect that youd rather change. In my wifes new house
.err
I mean
our new house, we decided to go wild on updating the interior and making it both unique and elegant without being uncomfortable. Easier said than done.
We started redoing the whole interior of our house, and this summer well probably get new landscaping along with redone stucco architecture. Nevertheless, all aspects of the interior had to be fulfilled first, and that was a tough thing to do. In the midst of getting our new kitchen installed and expanded, we decided it would be in our best interest to redo the middle floor bathroom
Our middle floor bathroom is very unique. We put an off-white textured tile in it, installed a new toilet, and my wife painted it a cool cranberry/brown mixture. We also bought a mini chandelier and a huge mirror with tall lights at the top to compliment the high, pink ceiling. My wife found this trendy glass sink from Fortunoff, but the only thing we were missing was a faucet
Thats where Vintage Bath & Tub came in. This outdated site, when first reaching it, looks like it was designed by a 10-year old who felt that size 9 font was the cool thing in internet shopping. In my opinion, the home page is just way too crowded and is not organized attractively. The colors are a bit boring, too. Id expect something more in todays online shopping world.
The website has a Search bar where you can type in the product or search by manufacturer. The site is viewable in Spanish, has a shopping cart feature, allows you to ask questions about the products, and also gives you the option of e-mailing a page to someone. You can choose to view items by their manufacturer or by their category. Along the left side is a column that lets you choose from:
Clawfoot Tubs
Built In Tubs
Clawfoot Tub Faucets
Clawfoot Tub Showers
Clawfoot Tub Drains
Clawfoot Tub Supply Lines
Sinks
Sink Faucets
Sink Drains
Sink Supply Lines
Toilets
Accessories
Bath Furniture
Bath Lighting
Its obvious that Vintage Tub and Bath specializes in tubs and showers, but they also offer items for the faucet or sink. Together with my wife, we decided to browse around the Sink Faucets category to see if anything interesting popped up. Time was not an issue with us - we focused more on finding the best faucet for our bathroom and ensuring a decent price.
(We always say that were going to watch the price, but if we find something that we both like and its overpriced, well probably still get it. Dont shake your head at me! You know you do it too. Dont act so innocent.)
Once clicking on Sink Faucets, we were brought to another page allowing us to specify our search. We could select from Low Spout Faucets, High Spout Faucets, 4 Centerset Faucets, Single Post Faucets, Hot Cold Basic Taps, Wall Mounted Faucets, Deck Mounted Kitchen Faucets, and Single Post Kitchen Faucets. If just the titles of the faucets were listed, then I would have absolutely no clue what they were talking about. Luckily for me, there are pictures
We clicked on the Wall Mounted Faucets tab and proceeded to check out their selection. The next two pages offered us 23 wall mounted faucets to choose from. Not necessarily the largest selection, we still found something that would go perfectly with the bathroom. The Belle Foret Wall-Mounted Vessel Filler (not that anyone knows what that is) looked absolutely perfect and it was priced at a modest $185, the second lowest priced faucet on the page. Believe it or not, there were some that ranged well over three times that amount, and there was one faucet that was $1,000 and then some
I clicked on the image and was brought to another page with an enlarged view. The specifications were given, along with an explanation of what exactly I would get with my order. It gave four options: chrome, oil rubbed bronze, polished brass (non-tarnishing) and satin nickel. We went with the satin nickel at $185; the other options ranged from $165 to $195.
Once adding the faucet to our cart, we went ahead and proceeded to the checkout. The next page showed the total amount and even displayed the shipping costs: none. Free shipping was definitely a surprise to me as Vintage is based in L.A and I live in New York. But Im not complaining
Filling out the rest of the information was easy. All the standard information has to be typed in, along with your e-mail address for confirmation of the processed order. I was asked if I wanted to create an account with them so that future shopping would be easier, but I declined.
After completing my order, I received the confirmation e-mail which restated my order and its final price of $185.00. Two days later, we received our new faucet. I was shocked! Though the website promised it would be delivered within two business days of ordering, I just didnt see how theyd be able to ship something to the other side of the country so quickly. Alas, but I was proven incorrect. It arrived in perfect condition without a scratch.
So whats my opinion about Vintage Tub and Bath? Its a great site. Though the layout is a bit confusing and chaotic, we found a unique faucet at a good price. It arrived promptly, in great condition, and the credit card transaction was without problem. I was very impressed and will definitely check out Vintage next time the bathroom needs a face lift.
