Product Description

 
New V8 engines became available, in the 530i sedan and wagon, and 540i sedan. The first two got a 3.0-liter V8, rated at 215 horsepower, while the 540i benefited from a 282-horsepower, 4.0-liter. All models gained a passenger-side airbag. Two models were dropped: the 535i with its 3.4-liter 6-cylinder engine, and the limited-production M5.

Lemon in Luxury Clothing

The Bottom Line: If you can afford the repairs & maintenance, you can probably afford a new one. The rest of the world should just pass on this one.
Review: I had a 1994 740iL BMW - I thought that all of my dreams came true - a big luxury automobile that I can take skiing without buying ski racks (the wonderful pass through feature from the trunk to the rear seat). This car was fast, handled amazingly...

Be Careful...investigate...but its a wonderful car

The Bottom Line: Buy one if you want one, just make sure you buy one with a new engine, or one that has turned the odometer passed 100,000 and is trouble free.
Review: Like any BMW the ride, handling, luxury, engineering and just about everything is superior to many, many other brands. However, I must warn everyone thinking about buying one that some engines in these cars (4.0 L V8) had a bad cylinder lining and...

Review: I have four cars right now, and have had many more. In a word- I love cars!
And of all my cars, I love to drive this one. The 94 740iL is big, comfortable, tight-handling, powerful and nice to look at. And it gets surprisingly good fuel economy...
