Product Description

 
Two models were available. Base engine was a 135-horsepower 2.2-liter four. The sporty Si carried a new 2.3-liter twin-cam four, rated at 160 horsepower. Either engine may drive a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. New all-electronic 4-wheel steering marked the Si 4WS model. With this setup, rear wheels turn slightly in the same direction as the fronts, to improve cornering and maneuverability. A driver-side airbag was standard on all Preludes, while the Si 4WS added a passenger-side airbag. Antilock braking was standard on the Si, but not available on the S edition.

Still fun to drive

The Bottom Line: This is a very good car, the engine is bulletproof, maintenance is easy, it performs spectacularly, and it is still fun to drive after 5 years. Absolutely recommended.
Review: I have been driving my 1996 Honda Prelude VTEC for about 5 years now, and it has never given me any problems. It is still fun to drive after all that time too. This is an excellent handling car, and the 190 hp 2.2L VTEC engine gives me the go power...

Review: For those of you who are unfamiliar with my work, I urge you to read my review of the 1992 Honda Prelude (My Dream Car) for a more in depth analysis of my obsession with the Prelude, and for Hondas in general.

The Bottom Line: I can`t think of a better car for a similar price or even one that`s nearly comparable. Most that perform better cost twice as much.
Review: The automatic gearbox in our 2.0L 1981 Saab finally gave up so we needed a new car. Fuel consumption didn`t figure high on our list since the Saab hadn`t done better than 20mpg for years and was using oil at a similar rate. We didn`t have many ideas...
