Product Description

In public, Oliver Grey is a devoted father, prominent public figure, humanitarian, and respected businessman. But in private, theres a much darker side to Oliver Grey; a side so dark that someone is driven to kill him...Though the Greys appear to be an enviable upper class family, they are not without problems. Ian, the older son, is a womanizer and compulsive gambler; Clive, the younger son, is an odd man barely five feet tall with no life outside his work as an accountant; and Amanda, Olivers niece, whom he raised after her parents died in a plane crash, has been twice divorced and has had a difficult life. Dan, Amandas brother, is the only Grey who appears to have no problems -- except with his six-year-old daughter Caroline, whose behavior reminds him more and more of his troubled sister Amanda. The trouble had started with Oliver Greys decision to divide his nationally known business, Greys Food, among Ian, Clive, and Dan. Like riding on Carousels?? I do, too!

Date of Review:  Oct 17, 2001
The Bottom Line: Both a romance and mystery novel. The author grips you with a tale of love, betrayal and ultimate redemption. Very riveting story!
Review: Carousels conjure up so many wonderful thoughts and memories; sparkling lights flashing in the night, lilting music playing, gold rings to be won, spring breezes blowing and children laughing, while their parents beam and wave to them from the...

The Carousel : Go round & round with the Grey Family

Date of Review:  Aug 4, 2008
The Bottom Line: This is a terrific book that certainly held my interest. Highly recommended. Especially for all the soap opera lovers out there.
Review: Reading Belva Plain's The Carousel is like watching a soap opera. Because this book is about a wealthy family that, to outsiders, would appear to be happy and successful. But there are secrets brewing in this family and nothing is as it seems...

Paperback, The Carousel
There s no doubt in my mind, said the psychiatrist. Your Tina has been sexually abused. Sally Grey stumbled out of the doctor s office numb with shock and disbelief. Such things didn t happen to families like the Greys, wealthy, proper families who raise fine, well-bred children. But Dan and Sally s five-year-old was clearly troubled, retreating into a world of fantasy and rage...For generations Greys dominated the upstate New York city of Scythia. Now Oliver Grey, the silver-haired patriarch, has bowed out, leaving Grey s Foods to his two sons and his nephew Dan. But as outside forces threaten the business, the once unimpeachable dynasty is shattered from within -- by a tormented child obsessed with an heirloom silver carousel...and by a family member bent on revenge, a woman with an unspeakable secret and the power to destroy them all...
