Michael Crichton - The Lost World: A Novel

Michael Crichton - The Lost World: A Novel

Product Description

With a title that frankly pays homage to a major influence--Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who penned many a Sherlock Holmes adventure--LOST WORLD follows up on the wildly popular (and lucrative) JURASSIC PARK. The plot and characters might invoke some d?j? vu, although now the dinos are on a different island. But why mess with success? Readers who enjoyed the JURASSIC oos and aws are sure to enjoy those of LOST WORLD as well.

Dinos, Dinos Everywhere!

Date of Review:  Apr 15, 2003
The Bottom Line: Not the best written book, but the exciting action scenes make up for a lot. Don't expect anything deep, but do expect to have some fun.
Review: The Lost World, by Michael Crichton, is the sequel to Jurassic Park. I don't know if the dinosaurs bring out the best in Crichton or what. I've read a few of his books and haven't really cared for them, but I loved Jurassic Park and I really enjoyed...

Crichton's first major sequel is all right but not dino-mite.....

Date of Review:  Mar 14, 2008
The Bottom Line: The Lost World is entertaining in spots, but it has little in common with the 1997 Spielberg movie it inspired.
Review: If you like Michael Crichton's 1995 science fiction/thriller The Lost World, you can thank director Steven Spielberg for the novel's very existence.

Or, conversely, you can blame Spielberg if you don't like this second iteration of the...

The Lost World - Leftovers From The Main Course

Date of Review:  Aug 13, 2001
The Bottom Line: Too familiar plot, characters, and story, not enough action, extensive exposition.
Review: The Lost World is an example of how to take something too far. In this case, it's a book that bears far too much resemblance to its predecessor, Jurassic Park. While in some cases if you've got a good thing going, you should go with it, this is not...
