Interesting but gets old

I have not played any of the other Silent Hill games. This was my first one. Got good reviews so I bought a used copy on ebay for $25.00.

Its an interesting title. Odd and requires you to think. It isn't just walk forward, trigger monster, kill monster, look for objects, walk forward. You have to figure out what on earth is going on and how you will get out of it. Storyline is interesting.

When I first inserted the game, I found the instructions very wanting. I got frustrated and turned it off after the first 20 mins of trying to figure out how to even move around the screen or do anything.

I tried again the next day after reading some better instructions from Gamespot. I played for about 6 hours straight. Very addictive. Very engrossing.

I've probably spent over 20 hours playing this game and I am not finished yet. I am close but there is still a ways to go. Great longevity.

However, I haven't played it in over 2 weeks. It just got real repetitive after a while. The ghosts are pretty annoying since you cannot kill most of them. You can sort of stun them but in doing so you take loads of damage. I really don't like the fact that you cannot escape from these things and have to constantly search for health boosts.

If you like first person adventure games, this is a good choice. It is definitely for a mature audience. Lots of graphic blood and discussions about child abuse and murder. Not for a child. Not even for a young teenager. Prefect for an adult though.
