The Bottom Line: Don't rent the movie unless you can sit through a very boring movie.
Review: 2001: A Space Odyssey is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. What makes it so bad are the frequent scenes of slow, tedious visual effects with amazingly annoying classical music blasting in the background.

2001 a great movie if you don't count the classical music

Review: 2001 is a great movie and I would get it on DVD. I have not seen the dvd one yet but I would get it on dvd to skip the 15 minutes of non-stop classical music why they show everything that goes on in space ships going to the moon.
