Product Review

ACCO Brands Tot& Stapler (S7079141R) By Swingline

by   popsrocks , top reviewer in Home and Garden, Hotels & Travel, Restaurants & Gourmet, Books at Epinions.com ,   Dec 3, 2007

Pros:  Works well on most regular stapling jobs.

Cons:  Doesn't have the leverage or storage of larger capacity staplers. Common sense there.

The Bottom Line:  I have this small convenient but reliable stapler on my desk or in its drawer. It does the job when I need it.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

A stapler is a tool that we don't use often around the house but when it's needed, there isn't much else we can substitute as a fastening system on paper to paper.

We happen to have the Acco USA Tot stapler in the colour blue. Yes, I'm a boy. ; )

I read with sadness the address of Wheeling , Il. 60090 yet the product says, "Made in China". The Swingline name is also on the stapler. They are a long time US company that we have purchased for years along with the Arrow brand of staplers. I'm not sure whether Acco owns Swingline or who is part of what but I do like seeing the Swingline name even if the product is now manufactured in China.

This handy little tool is but two inches in length about an inch wide and in open position about an inch and three quarter high. The opening for paper seems to be equal to the usual length stapler. Because there isn't quite the same amount of leverage a little more pressure must be made to staple several pieces of paper together.

For a simple one to one piece of paper staple, the devise works very easily. The stapler seems to hold about 80-90 staples. They are so tiny I can't count them. That's enough for this staple gun that we use occasionally.

The casing is made of plastic while the mechanism is steel like their regular products. An open slot on the side of the staple housing can be looked at to see how many staples are left in the Tot stapler. A rubber non-sliding base keeps the stapler stable. It really is a fine little work horse that does it's job well.

It uses the basic Swingline staples that can be found in most stores that carry office supplies. Our local "Staples" has them.
