1995 BMW 540 - My Favorite Car Ever - Bought Used, Fell In Love

Bought my black with black interior (thus the nickname Vader) BMW 540 when it was already 9 years old. I've owned many car makes/models (some utility, some sporty, some luxury) and always considered them simple tools for traveling, nothing more.

By contrast, Vader's comfort, roominess, solid construction, and powerful performance have made me 'fall in love'. In this car, I feel both safe and pampered. The superior quality leather seats and well designed/crafted interior are comfortable and enjoyable. It gets approx 19 mpg (compared to est. 22-25 mpg of sibling 5 series with smaller engines), so an econo-box it isn't. However, the performance and solid feel when driving are worth it. The engine has enough hp and torque that I can merge into highway traffic, and maneuver out of dangerous situations, with ease.

Vader has been reliable daily driver, with only routine maintenance needed. Considering I drive approx 100 miles per day, this is saying alot. I also added a (conservative) rear wing, which makes it stand out from other 5 Series on the road.

This is the best car I've ever owned, and I'd highly recommend the 1995 540 to anyone.
