Bloody Roar Fast-Paced Fury
Pros:
Nice charater models, tons of brutal combos
Cons:
The gamespeed is so fast that some of its hardwork is missed.
The Bottom Line:
The game is fun, but its missing the meat. I would suggest renting it.

Author's Review
I'll be honest. I am a bloody Roar fan. Ive been one since it first came out on playstation way back in the day. Despite this games awesome potential, its just missing that addicting craving.
Story
The story is choppy and doesn't make all that much sense. Sometime in the future, I humans have been at war with beast forming humans called zoanthropes. The zoanthropes have decided to make their own kingdom, which is based on peace with humans. However the kingdom is newly founded and still relies on the zaonthrope army for protection. The kingdom decideds to sponser the ultimate zaonthrope fighting tournament.
Gameplay
Here you choose from one of twelve fighters to take on the comp or a friend. There are also a few secret characters too. The gameplay is fun, but not flawless. During battles, your character will start out in human form. As he or she attacks or takes damage, a little beast bar will fill up. By pressing x, you cas transform into a beast. Your damage will be increased as well as defense, and the x button can be used for beast attacks.
The gameplay is too fast paced. It plays at 60 frames per second. Lots of the attacks in the game are power knockbacks. This usualy results to flying from one side of the ring to the other. But being that it plays at 60 fps, you brarely see them zoom past your screen! Combos are unleashed way to fast, and for the most part the heavyweight characters are always at the disadvantage for they rely on slow throws. In many ways, its unbalanced.
Characters
There are a total of 16 playable characters each with differn't beast forms. Each character for the most part, is unique but some of the fighting I found strange. Xion for example, turns into the unborne, a savage, demon/bug like creature. His moves are cool and relentless with unbearable combo chains. He does flipps, awesome kicks, Jaw dropping stunts and so on. But then he has a slap attack? Its just so unpradictable and strange.
Controls
The controls are simple. B is for human punch attacks. A is for human kick attacks. X is for beast. The y button can be used for both throwing or evading. The R and L buttons are used for sidesteping. The controls are fine i suppose, but far to simple for the human forms.
Music
Music? What music? That was music? Really?
Graphics
The graphics are good, but not awesome. Character models are nice, and beast forms are even better. But i still feel, that Hudson could of still improved them. Texturing is very good, but like I stressed earlier, its just way to fast paced.
Stages
The stages are a big improvement from BL3. A few of the stages have the old dead or alive theme where you knock someone off a stage, and you jump down after them to fight somewhere else. For example, one stage Romansque underwater aqurium. The upper ring is an amazing ring as you can see all the sealife through the windows. The lower ring, is an underwater labratory where you see little experimented creatures.
The stages are pretty nicely done. Midnight Rooftop is also an exceptional stage and really captures the realism of a city. Such as reflecting windows, skyscrapers, elevadors and other interesting things. A fun thing about this game is the ring outs. If you destroy the walls enough, they will eventualy give away. Because of this, you can knock your opponet off the stage and watch them fall to their death.
Sound: There is a wide variety of sound in this game. Lots of sound affects for the human forms, and lots for the beasts.
Other
I was amazed at the fact that each character has a anime cartoon ending. Ive never been so amazed with credits in my life either! There are some cool movies in this game and funny cheats that you can unlock too. One such as kids mode, where your character shrinks and is out of propertion.
