Author's Review
For all those who have purchased a Playstation from 3 to 5 years ago im sure you remember recieved several demo disks to promote different games. Im also sure that most of you agree that one of the most enthralling games was called Bloody Roar. Of course the demo wasn't as good as the game. But from that you just had to see what the real game was like. But to much of everyone's surprise it came true that the game was impossible to find. And from there it also seemed true that the game itself didn't recieve its popularity until it was released on GameCube.
Bloody Roar can be seen as a 3 dimensional fighting game. Being one of the very first games on GameCube that actually intailed fighting it was obvious to most that it was going to grab attention. This game made itself a class of its own. With its great moves, graphics, morphing ablitites, and music this game really blows any competition away.
One of the most intreging credits to the games is the characters morphing abilities. With this, you are able to transform you character into a massive beast. This comes into use whenever you are only a few moves away from winning and are down on your energy. With the morphed beast you are able to do unimaginable combos, you become more powerful and more technical as well. Losing Tremendously? No worries because with this morphing ability you are able to completely take over and leave your opponent in the dust. You can be a hit away from losing and become the champion. It all depends on your combo use as well as your power use. Combos really come into use when fighting and play a vital role.
The combos you are given aren't always at the top of the game but thats were strategy becomes important. With knowing when to morph and withknowing how and when to use your combos you can easily become a victor. This game has been a little underated because of it combos. Most people see it as a "luck" game because if you just pushing alot of buttons you are sure to pull of a great move. Well in some games this is true but not in this one. It all comes down to strategy. Of course anyone can get lucky with a simple touch of a button but by being able to know when to pull of a certain combo and when to move you are able to rise above any kind of "luck."
The game is rated for teens because if its violence
It is obvious where such a rating must come in. I believe they set the standard for this game very well. The violence is very eminent as well a gory. Such gore can really frighten younger kids and if anything make them scared of certain animals. This game was really made for kids with a better understanding of what a real "game" is and what is true and what isn't.
Bloody Roar has some awesome characters. Both their looks and their characteristics appeal to you. One of the realy credits should be given the oh so famous morphs. It is obvious that the beasts are animals but to see them so grusum and so vivid really makes it that much more exciting. Most of the characteristics fit the animals instics. The tiger has the ability to pouce with immense power and the rabbit is able to jump extremely high. From Tiger to Lion, to Leopard you can transform into almost any beast. The only drawback is that each character has a certain beast he can turn into. He is unable to turn into another beast.
To all those who have played the PlayStation 2 version of this game as well as the GameCube version im sure you saw some differences. Certain enchancments were made as well as some additions. 1 new level is shown, though you do have to unlock it. As well as 2 new characters. There are known to be 5 in total but you must unlock all of them. Not necessarily saying that the GameCube is better but it does give you more to work with. The only wat that the GameCube version looks slightly better is because of the graphics. The graphics have been altered slighty but they make all the difference. You get a better feel for the character and what he can do. Also shows great morphs.
This game provides both single player as well as multiplayer modes. Both are intense and both represent the game very well. Of course people enjoy playing against one another but the single mode really makes you want to take on everyone and see how far you can go. The single mode gives you more of a run for you money. It is more difficult and makes it harder to rise above most of the other fighters.
What some people really love about this game is its levels. Its great to see the similarity between this game and Mortal Kombat. The similarity is that you are able to go through changing levels. What I mean by this is that you are able to change your level during the match with certain hits. Examples of this are when your able to uppercut you opponent into a upper level or puch him into a wall opening another level. Being able to weave through different levels within one single match really intensifies your match.
Graphics in this game really give you a feal. The character are have both great texture as well as amazing detail. Their movements make them out to be almost real. Such great details cover a little for the lack of details in the levels. Both the characters and beasts are so greatly detailed that the lack of extremity in the levels is covered up. As I said they made the textures extremely well. Accompaning that is the great use of colors. The colors are mixed together to either give you a dark and gloomy level to a high flying amazon looking level. All the colors are very true to where they are place and make the game much more exciting. Along with the color comes great shadow uses and movements.
The audio part of the game really attributes. With great impact sounds with every move, as well as screams and taunts. The game also uses the music to motivate and keep your blood pumping.
The modes make the game that much better. From single to multiplayer the modes let you to play anyway you want. Playing against the computer can be difficult so sometimes people like to start out with playing against a friend. But with time the computer becomes more of a challenge.
All in all this is one of the best fighting games produce. It combines color, texture, music, and details to make it one of the most exciting games of the year. The graphics really make you feel like your watching this on T.V. Of course the beast's make it unreal, it really represents the beasts well with muscle definition and characteristics. This game is a sure buy. The storyline as well give the game more truth. You can look beghind each character and see how they got that way or see where they come from. The storyline gives you a better understanding of the game and what it represents and what each character represents.
