Author's Review

I found this book at our library after searching for books that'll help our son manage his emotions. What a find! (Moser has written a series of books to help kids learn to manage their emotions.)

This book has great illustrations - very colorful and complement the text. The text is simple, forthright and very understandable (I'm reading this with a 7 and 9 year old). The kids seem to enjoy the book without feeling "preached" to. The text really helps bring out situations that kids feel and experience and then gives practical techniques that the kids can do to help. I even found the books were good for me, too! :)

I like that Moser is a psychologist who's practiced so he's a real professional with experience. Also, the illustrator is the Dav Pilkey who's authored the Ricky Ricotta and His Mighty Robot and Super Diaper Baby series so the illustration are well done as well.

I think this, and Moser's other books, are a must purchase for all parents. In my opinion, kids don't need to have problems with managing emotions to benefit from this book. From the usual dealings that kids have at school, what better time to read these books with our kids to give them the tools to handle their feelings while they'll listen to us? I think this book is best for a mature 5 year old on up to 12, possibly.
