Loved it!

I loved this book. The writing is very human; it felt like Ms. Gilbert was actually telling me the story personally. That may sound odd, but some authors just don't do that for me! I am close in age to the author, and not 100% sure of where I stand on religion, so I was really able to relate to it. I was also reading the book on the plane ride back from Italy, which was somewhat ironic, but also great. I was able to actually picture a lot of the places and sights and sounds, which was neat for me.

I haven't been to the other 2 countries, but I felt like I had when I finished the book. Ms. Gilbert has a great way with descriptions that are clear and concise, but not mundane or too wordy. That includes her descriptions of the characters in the book, who I was also able to picture very easily.

The emotional, physical and spiritual journey in this book helped ignite some of my interests. It got me thinking a lot more about our place in the world, why we are here and what we are supposed to be doing. There aren't many books that do that without lecturing or guilt inducing. I hate to call it a self help book, because that will turn a lot of people off. I would say this book is more of a story that catches you from the first few words.
