A Housecat Paradise

Bob Walker is a wonderful man, as evidenced in his THE CATS' HOUSE. It occurred to him that his cats spent more time at the house than he did, so he did a bit of remodeling to enhance the lifestyle of the full time residents. The result is marvelous, whimsical yet efficient, and truly a heaven for housecats.

This is a delightful book for cat lovers and should be required reading for every cat owner. Walker takes the scratching post and stretches it up to the ceiling, and has built elevated catwalks throughout the house to give his feline friends a higher quality of life. There are special kitty stairways and doorways in the walls to allow the cats to go from room to room without ever setting paw to the floor.

While Walker does give some insight as to how he built these marvels, this is not a how-to book. It does offer more than enough to get one's own creative thought processes flowing, though, and hopefully will encourage many cat owners to look at their own homes through the eyes of a cat.

Walker has recently published a second book, CATS INTO EVERYTHING, and also has a web site on the Internet. The Cats' House has been featured on TV - I believe PBS, but I haven't been fortunate enough to see the show. It's one I'm definitely hoping will re-run soon!
