Bose solved my problem.

The Bottom Line: These are the speakers for anyone with a need for small space.
My old speakers were Sansoui floor speakers with 16" woofers. They sound great as long as you position them to dominate the room. In my new house, the entertainment area got a corner next to a huge German Wall Schrank. I could only get sound in a small area, and had to use a small TV stand to make room for the speakers.
I finally bought a new entertainment center and the Bose Acoustimass 5 speakers (on closeout for $358). I can't believe how much sound comes out of those speakers. Even with them set in a corner on top of the entertainment center, the entire room is filled with sound, and has accurate stereo image. The direct/reflecting sound really works. Also, the 5" cones in the base unit give out bass that competes with the 16" woofers.
Some of the other reviews seem to have an anti Bose slant. But if you have small space, these speakers may be just what you need.
