Poor Quality Overall... Not Worth It
Pros:
Good features in general, sound quality is decent
Cons:
General quality issues, WAY overpriced, LCD little too bright
The Bottom Line:
$100 can get you a lot of CD/clock/radio, but not if you buy this product. This one is maybe worth $20.

Brookstone "SmartSet" CD Alarm Clock (SKU 467522)
http://www.brookstone.com/store/product.asp?product_code=467522&search_type=search&search_words=467522&prodtemp=t2
The features are good:
- Wake to CD (a specific track, if desired) or radio or alarm buzz
- Button snooze and "touchless" snooze
- Semi-adjustable LCD brightness
- Automatic time/date setting
- Dual alarms (to use, for example, on weekdays versus weekends)
- Digital radio tuner
- Digital radio presets
- Programmable CD track playback
The LCD display is a little too bright, even on the lower of two brightness settings. If you're at all sensitive about light when trying to sleep, you will hate this product. The sound quality seems fine, with decent bass from the small speakers.
However, when playing a CD, any light tap on the nightstand (e.g., dropping a pen from five inches) caused the CD playback to completely stop, essentially requiring a "reboot" to restart playback.
I exchanged unit #1, and unit #2 played CDs just fine, but it sounded like a speaker was shorting out.
It seems improbable that I simply had the bad luck of getting two "lemons" in a row, and much more likely that the product has design or material quality issues. If I were to get a third unit, I would expect a third problem...
So instead it's time for a refund!
