An AIO that does it all.
Pros:
Extensive feature set, wireless printing and batch scanning works beautifully.
Cons:
Poor quality scanning. Will not work unless it has all cartridges at least half filled.
The Bottom Line:
I think this all-in-one machine is a great value with mail-in-rebates. You won't be able to find so many functionality for this price. Ink cartridges are cheap to replace.

Author's Review
I have this machine for about two weeks now and I have used it quite extensively, so I can write a small review- as the current breed of reviews for this machine is pretty sad at Epinion.
First of all, this machine is pretty old- technology wise...about 2 years. I can certainly understand the expectation from thsi printer was high when it first came out.
I purchased this printer for cheap with some hefty mail-in trap like rebate. So I started looking at this machine with not much expectation. My main goal was to have a decent scanner which can automatically scan a bunch of papers to PDF. This AIO machine has pretty darn good 25 page automatic document feeder and it serves my purpose beautifully. A full color letter page takes about 24 second for a scan at 300 dpi. Scan speed depends on dpi- a higher dpi setting will take long time, but for most general use, 300 dpi will certainly serve the purpose. Text scans are pretty good...color scanning is not so good- creates lot of noise at dark areas of a photo. I am spoiled by HP and Canon scanner and their beautiful scanning software. Unfortunately, brother provides a real backbone scanning interface- which means you won't be able to change the exposure/color/contrast/noise reduction at the source. If you goal is to scan decent photos- stay really far away from a Brother AIO.
My experience with printing is so far eventless. Paper feeder has worked the way it should- unremarkable. Copy works perfectly so is the fax. The setup can be pretty cumbersome- so please read the manual carefully.
The best part of this AIO is the wireless functionality. I was initially unsuccessful in installing the wireless printing, but after reading the manual has been able to set it up in my laptop. The machine has no trouble handling my 802.1G/WPA2 home network. Now, without a print server I can print from anywhere in the room I want. Wireless scanning also works fine, but that is kind of moot point since you have physically in front of the scanner to load the documents.
I have not tried the wired network feature, but I am pretty sure that that will work since wireless setups tend to be more flakier.
By the way- these printers will not print if any of the ink cartridges are empty- but there is nice workaround to this issue. Contact me if you need to know the trick, or simply google it.
