The one of many things a student loathes is history, or at least I do. To me, history is literally boring; nothing about it excites me to learn more about it. So what is my remedy? War games! Call Of Duty is just one of many franchises that take history to another level- gaming level! Call of Duty 3 is a sequel to the very first next-generation war game on the Xbox 360-
Call Of Duty 2. Not only did it brought an experience that no any other game has brought, but it's one game that brought an intense and satisfying experience that no any war game has brought.
Not like any other war game..
And now, my fellow
classmates, that experience has just gotten a sequel! Call Of Duty 3 revolves around the Normandy Breakout where you take part in 4 types of campaigns. The American, Canadian, British and Polish. Each campaign is equally fun making each level a blast to play due to their variety of things to do. You could be just run and gun in any other shooter games but no, in Call of Duty 3, it will put you to the test. Whether it be driving a jeep on country roads to destroy a general or you and couple of your team mates row your boat across a river while gunfire is bursting around you. Simply put, there is plenty of things to do in this game and no, it's not your standard war game of just run and gun.
New things become your friends
Everyone knows a sequel is worth two things: 1.Playing an addition to the original game. 2.Playing with new stuff! Call Of Duty 3 has few upgrades than Call Of Duty 2. For instance, when you are in close-quarter attack with another solider(these moments happen occasionally, not throughout the game), you'll have to press LT and RT simultaneously and then there will be a button(could be A, B, Y or X) appear on the screen that will "finish" off the close-quarter attack and then you'll knock that soldier out. Sweet, huh? This little addition never gets old(but if it happened throughout the entire game, it would) and it's quite fun to "mix" up the game-play. Not to mention, planting bombs have had their upgrade as well. This goes for the same thing; instead of pressing one button to place a bomb, you'll go through three steps placing a bomb. One, place the bomb by pressing a button. Two, rotate the right thumbstick. Three, press the final button to set the timer and run like hell! One small addition is the returning grenades aspect. When enemies throw a grenade, you can grab that grenade and return it back. Warning, be too slow and you could end up dead. Sadly, just these two additions have made their way to this sequel. They are very minor and a few more upgrades could have been added, but the overall experience of Call of Duty 3 is just simply another satisfying time.
Old things are still your friends:
Now, the same things still return for this sequel and how could it not be here? We sure as hell need it! You can still do a melee attack where if you are reloading and an enemy comes running towards you, just hit the melee attack button and problem is solved. You can still throw frag/smoke grenades with a flick of the RB or LB. Reloading weapons and switching weapons are still here. Basically, everything from Call of Duty 2 has made it's return.
Chaos never looked so good:
How can I say this that hasn't been said before? Heck with it! Call of Duty 3 has stunning graphics, simply put. The surroundings are ever so realistic making you think the developers really did their homework. The weather effects are much better than Call of Duty 2 and the frame speed of COD3 is once again top-notch. Explosions live up to COD2 and more! Basically, it's what you have come to expect from the Xbox 360.
Chaos never sounded so good:
Growls from gunfire, earth-shattering explosions, tanks rumbling and the sound of thousands of men yelling--pure bliss. If you've played COD2, you have come to expect great sound from the game. The music fits the game and gets you in the mood for hell on earth.
Controlling the chaos almost never controlled so good:
For the most part, COD3 is an easy game to control. Simple lay-out of the controls, however, when it comes towards using weapons that are stationary such as the mission where you have to stop soldiers from taking over and you have to destroy all the tanks and armored cars with a stationary grenade launcher, you have to rotate the left and right thumbstick to aim and trust me, everyone WILL have trouble on this because it's so awkward to pull off. But that is about it, when you come to missions like that(which isn't too many that have that), you'll have a little trouble, but you'll probably come out alive anyway.
Summary:
What can I say? Call Of Duty 3 is a great sequel to COD2. It brings back the intense experience we've loved in Call Of Duty 2 and some more! The graphics are stunning, the game itself is fun as hell and even though I finished this game in a day and a half, COD 3 is still a must-own for Xbox 360 owners. It'll create a hell for you to play in and most likely, you'll enjoy every minute of it.
