Coastal Living Magazine is a higher-end, large-sized, magazine that comes out about eight issues a year. My wife first started reading it when we started to explore shorelines of the Caribbean more than we ever had before. We happen to enjoy the Caribbean islands and have a couple-a-few magazines that highlight that area. This one has some of the same but much more. It has articles about coastal areas all over the Caribbean, the US and other parts of the world. More often than not my wife and I vacation in coastal areas. There is something about a vacation spot on the water that draws us to them.
Coastal Living
This magazine is loaded with articles. It also has monthly features like
Home that highlights waterfront properties and the people who chose to live in these coastly and more often than not costly homes. This isn't just one article but a number of homes that are peeked into. Another feature and probably my favorite is
Travel. It's here that many photos and articles about the coastal areas of the world are featured. What I do like here are the stories of places I never even knew existed. It's wonderful to dream.
Lifestyle is much like the
Home feature but makes a study of top living on the coast showcasing the best of the best in my eyes.
Food and Entertainment Pays homage to recipes and outdoor parties on the shore. Photos trying to capture the flavours and aromas from around the world fill these pages.
This last issue of Coastal Living Magazine spotlights sand castle building on the beaches of North Carolina. Also included is a feature describing Roof Top bars. That is the type of article I find fun in reading yet, studying floor plans for homes does nothing to stir me.
I dream of sailing from port to port and island to island some day. This magazine does have many articles with sailing and other such water sport. This magazine feeds my dreams of doing so.
Pops Last Thoughts
I suppose I like to reminisce and I find articles in Coastal Living Magazine that feature places I have been to. I enjoy reading about and looking at current photos of places I am familiar with.
The current July/August issue has an article that includes Long Island, where I live. That's also the sort of thing I like. Many past issues have had the Northeast coast from Long Island to Maine with many towns and setting featured. Those articles are handy for me because I note those places as possible destinations to seek when traveling relatively local.
The photography in this magazine is outstanding and the homes and properties they use are incredibly gorgeous. That last part kind of separates me from the magazine and is part of the reason we no longer subscribe. There are too many homes that we could NEVER have the chance to visit. Though prices are rarely if ever mentioned in this magazine, I certainly can tell these are places that only a small percentage of humanity can afford. There just aren't properties featured that could be the goal or dream of the average Joe or Jane. I do wish that the magazine would give more information about some of the things to do and places to visit withing certain areas.
The magazine is also loaded with adds. Too many that don't interest me. These are for time shares, condo waterfront properties and furniture. The photos are in league with the others in the magazine. Very well done.
I like the magazine but it's too pricey and though it offers images and stories of beautiful properties, I really like a more simple style of waterfront property.
That said, I do love seeing sandy beaches and rocky shores with homes. Perhaps someday my coastal home will be featured in this magazines cover.
I'm still dreaming.
