Product Review

Decent seat but it has its problems.

by   sprtwrid ,   Feb 19, 2007

Pros:  Easy to use and fairly durable

Cons:  Poorly put together. Straps are flimsy and the seams rip.

The Bottom Line:  I believe there are better car seats out there in the price range of this one.Its one of those "you get what you paid for" deals.

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Author's Review

We have gotten a lot of use out of our car seat. It fits well on our son, and holds him in very securely. I don't recommend using it for an infant who doesn't have good muscle control (I refused to use it until my son was 6 months old because it didn't look safe in the infant format).I definitely prefer it in the forward facing position.

Some of the problems we had with this seat were:
1. Hard to install. Once you see how it goes in though, its really easy. We used it with the seat belt format, since my car does not have LATCH potential.
2.The straps are very weak. We ended up returning our seat within 2 months of our son using it, because the straps broke apart in the back where they secure to the seat (theres a metal clip in the back that the strap wraps around and is sewed shut. That seam broke). We got another seat of the same kind, and within a few months, it happened again. I couldn't return it, so I went home and sewed it back together myself. It hasn't ripped since.
3.Its a pain to switch it between cars. Do not get this seat if you have a 2 door vehicle. It is very hard (especially when seat is rear facing) to get child in and out. It's not as horrible forward facing.
4. Our son had a tendency to get his arm caught in the lap bar thingy as we were trying to belt him in. Watch out for that.
5. Our son has outgrown it well before the weight limit. Most of the children we know are to tall for it, and nowhere near the weight limit (my son is 28lbs,but hes way to tall for the seat)

The good things about this seat are that it's easy to use, durable (other than the strap issue)and affordable. Our son loves it.Its easy to adjust, and once you figure out how to install it,you can in less than 15 seconds :)
