Chopping my meat and grinding my nuts!
Date of Review: Jun 11, 2000
Although I've had the Cuisinart Mini-Mate Chopper/Grinder for a few years, I've just recently begun to use it regularly. I had no idea how useful it could be until I started experimenting with it.
Features
It's small and compact so it's perfect for those with limited kitchen and cupboard space. It takes up less space than a coffee maker or blender.
It's easy to use. The easy grip motor housing allows you to push down to start grinding or chopping. Turning it to the right if you need high speed and to the left you want low speed.
The reversible blade allows you to tailor the chopping/grinding to your needs. I use the sharp side for chopping onion, bacon, garlic, and cheese. The blunt side of the blade has been useful for grinding chocolate, cinnamon sticks, nuts, and coffee beans. It does such a great job with the coffee beans that I gave my coffee grinder away.
Another feature that I especially like is that it's very easy to clean! The blade and mixing shaft remove easily and the small mixing bowl is dishwasher safe. From my experience, it's much easier to clean than a blender or a one blade hand held mixer.
Uses
The possibilities are almost endless as to what you can grind, chop, and blend. Here are a few examples of what I use the Cuisinart Mini-Mate Chopper Grinder for:
Chopping (remember to use the sharp side of the blade) -
Bacon, ham, butter, cheese, garlic, mushrooms, onions, garlic, scallions, fresh herbs, and olives. Actually anything that I might want in an omelette.
Grinding (use blunt side of blade)
Coffee beans, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, peppercorns, seeds, other nuts such as macaroons, macadamia, and walnuts.
Blending
Flavored butter (garlic) and mixing home made salad dressings. Although I don?t, you might find it useful for blending solid foods for additive free baby food as well.
I've yet to be disappointed with this wonderful little device. It's small size and multi uses allow me to cut down on cluttering my kitchen with larger appliances. I would highly recommend that you read the accompanying information brochure thoroughly. It explains the operation, uses, and also gives recipe suggestions. I'd recommend it to anyone who also wants to cut down on their kitchen device collection, those with limited kitchen space, and small households.
