Not terrible... but not great at toasting.

After my Black and Decker toaster oven got really cruddy looking & started to smell like fire we decided it was time to retire it and buy new. Our choice was the Cuisinart Classic TOB-50 without convection. We purchased it at PC Richard for $80 using a 20% coupon.

We have owned this toaster for only 2 weeks so I will probably be adding to this review as things happen.

The oven comes with a broiling pan and baking pan. The crumb tray slides out but you have to do that from the back which is inconvenient. Why cant they make it slide out from the front? The oven rack has 2 positions. The inside is coated making it easy to wipe clean.

The sleek design goes well with my kitchen decor & fits well in the corner. There are 3 knob controls for temp, function and toast shade; and 2 push buttons for START and STOP located in front. They are fairly easy to use. The oven is deep/wide so it holds alot. The 2 position racks are good for foods that are bulky and need more space at the top. I am able to fit 4 slices of the wider sandwich bread and 2 slices of pizza.

So far I have found that the toaster setting needs to be in between light and medium or else its too dark for us. For some reason the top burner & the back of the unit toast quicker & darker than the rest of the oven. Therefore the food isnt evenly toasted on top & bottom.

I haven't found that the door is flimsy as others have written. The entire oven is quite sturdy and should last us a good amount of time, I hope. The only thing I miss from my other TO was the slide out rack as you open the door.

In a nutshell, I like the look of this oven but I wish it would just toast more evenly. I also like the 2 position racks & the slide out crumb tray. And I like that the toaster doesn't shut off when you open the door to check your food.
