I will never buy another Sony camera
Date of Review: Sep 4, 2007
This is the second Cyber-shot camera I've owned. The first one (DSC-P72) lasted a couple of years, then the screen went snowy. Last year I replaced it with a DSC-P200, and after only two months, the lens mechanism broke. The lens would not retract and the camera kept telling me to turn the power off and back on, which accomplished nothing. I sent it in for repair, and it came back within a few days, good as new. However, on a recent vacation, the same problem with the lens mechanism happened again. This time, the camera is out of warranty and they want $189 to fix it. It seems pretty obvious that there is a design flaw -- from reading the reviews here, I see that I'm not the only one who has experienced this problem with the lens mechanism -- but they claim they have no documented evidence that this is a common complaint. But I've had two Sony digital cameras and I didn't make it to 2,000 pictures on either one before they died. So much for Sony "quality". I will be looking elsewhere for my next camera.
