SUPER modem... ditch the cable company's junk!

My cable company is Charter and the free rental period on a Motorola SB4100 was about to expire so I purchased this modem. Called the cable company to update my MAC. Plugged it in and within 2 minutes I was online. It couldn't have been simpler.

While I did not do any transfer speed testing, this modem has MUCH less latency and is MUCH faster than the Moto. Used to I waited several seconds for the Moto to start bringing up a webpage and several seconds for it to complete. This modem is going from nothing to fully loaded webpages in 1 or 2 seconds. When clicking on email links with a closed browser, the webpages are already loaded when the browser opens.

In regards to the issues I have seen in the negative reviews...

1) DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you buy something. It is all over the internet and on DLink's website that this modem requires a firmware upgrade for Comcast customers. It is a simple procedure, but if you don't feel comfortable doing it, don't buy this modem. And if you did get this modem and don't want to do the upgrade, take it back. But don't advertise your own inadequacies here.

2) Another reviewer was not doing their homework again. TurboDOX does exist. It is not a lie or ploy, but a legitimate advantage to this and SOME other Moto and Toshiba modems. 3) Complaining about heat is ridiculous. All electronic devices create heat, the only question is how well the case is insulated and whether it is enough to detect. Feeling heat actually indicates it is radiating away which will likely increase the life of the components. The only legitimate reason to complain would be if it is burning something or otherwise manifesting itself in a negative way.
