Caught my daughters room on FIRE in the night!

I have one of these heaters and at 2 am I hear this loud POP! I go into my daughters room and find the cord caught the carpet on FIRE and the wall. Delonghi cooperated enough to send a shipping label out to get the faulty heater out of my hands and now they won't compensate me and they hold the evidence. They are weasels! They don't call back when they say they will and are not an example of a responsible company in terms of SAFETY or product responsibility. Their number is 1-800-322-3848 but they won't let you talk to people who have authority to do anything. It's all "my hands are tied" "I can send an email" etc. And then nothing happens. My opinion is that they are irresponsible in manufacturing, and in corporate matters. Why would you buy their products?????
