Pucker Up Sucker!

I'm a sour stuff junkie. I cut lemons and eat them like oranges, and I will eat WarHeads until my tongue is raw and I can't take it anymore...that's why it wasn't a surprise when I found my new drinking buddy the other night--DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker Schnapps!

Last Saturday night, I was determined to find something different at the liquor store. (The Mike's Hard Lemonades are getting OLD!) Luckily, I happened to be on the schnapps isle, and I remembered an ad I had seen in Cosmo...for no other than Pucker!

I found the Pucker line of different flavors, including Sour Apple, Watermelon, and Peach. I opted for the Sour Apple, for simple fact that I liked the pretty neon green color. I bought a pint, considering I'd never had it before. We were blessed with a babysitter that night, and with Pucker in hand we headed out some friends house for a get together.

Two girlfriends and I ventured off to ahem...try some Pucker...and proceeded to kill it. Remember, it's only 30 proof, so no, we weren't stumbling around dog butt drunk...but it was the liquor I had ever drank in my life nonetheless! Pucker was proclaimed by them too that night as the new drinking buddy of choice.

We drank it room temperature, but it is better chilled. (I had to have another bottle...come on, it's a new taste experience for me!) I am having it chilled right now as a matter of a fact, and it takes away the small bitter taste and when drank on ice seems thinner.

The Sour Apple Pucker is identical in taste to a green apple Jolly Rancher. It smells just like one too. The nifty neon green color is very appealing, it looks just like lemon lime kool-aid. It is a bit thick, like all schnapps, but it's not as sweet as schnapps tends to be, thanks to the wonderful sour apple flavor. If I had to describe how a drink of this good stuff tastes it go something like this:

As you raise the bottle/glass to your face, you automatically smell green apples. As it hits your tongue, it is a bit sweet at first, not too sweet, but just right. The green apple taste is very prominent. In a split second, the sweetness disappears, and the sourness kicks in. It's not so sour that it makes your eyes water or anything, but it does pack quite a wang! You swallow, and the Pucker goes down nice and smooth. A bit of a bitter, liqourish after taste, but the sourness overpowers it.

Pucker wouldn't go well with any foods that I could think of. It's like candy, yeah, liquid candy, and is best all by it's lonesome.

DeKuyper's Sour Apple Pucker Schnapps is a great drink. Although it doesn't have a big fat alcohol content (15% ALC.VOL, or 30 proof as mentioned earlier) it's great if you are drinking for taste. From now on I am!
