Product Review

Speedy printing! Educator friendly!

by   mhashley ,   May 29, 2007

Pros:  Speed, quality of the printed document.

Cons:  Large size- takes space! Many catridges$. That is typical of most color lasers though.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I am a teacher and this networked printer replaces one we used to have at school-the color laser HP4500N. Basically we wore out the other model. It gets hard standard multi-copy print job use by educators.

The first thing I noticed was the speed. It is so much faster, much like a photocopier speed. It is also fairly quiet which is a plus in a school.

There appears to be minimal warm up time as compared to other models. The last one warmed up for nearly 3 minutes before the first print job came out and always fell asleep in between print jobs. This one seems at the ready.

From what little I have observed the ink seems to be of the same cost. About $130 for the primary colors (3)
and then you still have black ($50)and a drum unit (price unknown).

It also seems to have the fancy function of printing two sided, but mostly for us we will use as a color printer in addition to our B/W.

Hope this was helpful...if the price comes down I might consider one like this for our home office. However, I would be interested in wireless networked.
