Author's Review
One of the benefits of working in an inner city public high school?
ENDLESS OFFICE SUPPLIES!
And just when I didn't think it could get better...
Enter the Ticonderoga(R) tri-write pencil!
I never thought I would describe a pencil with such passion, but this pencil is incredibly comfortable! As opposed to it's six-sided brother, the Ticonderoga(R) tri-write has but three smooth sides.
Preferring to craft in pencil my whole life, I have often found it difficult to wield a hexagonal pencil for extended periods comfortably for all of the raised edges. The tri-write's flat edges not only allow for longer periods of comfortable writing, but, in my humble opinion, greater control of the point. That is to say, when writing quickly, the tri-write will not cant on an edge as each finger (on a traditional three-fingered grasp) has a flat, smooth side unto itself. I have even found round pencils to grow uncomfortable more quickly as they are generally thicker by design.
A box of 12 Ticonderoga(R) tri-write pencils are sold for $1.99 and are available in case lots from wholesalers as well. Prices may vary. They are certified by the PMA (Pencil Makers Association - I kid you not - and conform to ASTM standards, not unlike the beer purity laws, but for pencils) and bear the Dixon Ticonderoga name, a leader in the pencil industry since 1795.
Ticonderoga(R) tri-write pencils are produced in school-grade, standardized-test quality No. 2 soft lead. Certain boxes also yield "Prang Power Points," which are collectible and redeemable toward free art supplies for participating schools.
These pencils feel good, are easy to hold, and write perfectly. Invest in a box today and get your Prang on!
