Escada Ibiza Hippie - A More Sophisticated Fruity Perfume
Date of Review: Jul 1, 2007
The Bottom Line: The Bottom Line is Ibiza Hippie is a nice, fruity warmer weather scent.
I always
thought perfumes were not for me. Most of what I had tried smelled like flowers or "old ladies" and they would make me gag, sneeze, or have headaches. It wasn't until my late 20's/early 30's that I really opened myself up to trying new perfumes and scents.
And then I never looked back.
One of my very favorite summer scents is
Escada's Ibiza Hippie. It's a funny name to me and it always sounds weird when I say it, but I love it just the same.
So How Did I Find Escada's Ibiza Hippie? I was at a store that had open bottles of perfumes you could spray onto a card and then walk around the store with. I prefer this to initially spraying on my skin, because at times I am wearing other fragrances that might clash with the one I am testing. I got a really lovely fruity smell that seemed to be more "sophisticated" than, say, a fruit punch, but with similar notes.
I had to have it.
How Does One Describe Escada's Ibiza Hippie? The packaging is a nice looking glass bottle, and rounded. It's a bold red color that almost looks like the color "bleeds" and fades into white toward the bottom. It has a nice, vibrant red cap that matches the glass color. The spray is easy to use.
The smell is mainly fruit, with some lighter floral notes you may or may not notice. The fruit is more berry-ish and as mentioned reminds me more of a fruit punch than a citrus or other blend. There's not really a tropical feel to it - which is perfect for me, as I don't like mango, pineapple or coconut scents. To me, the berry notes are the most noticeable ones in this blend.
Description From www.perfumeemporium.com:
"Ibiza Hippie Perfume by Escada Parfum for Women and more. Introduced in the year 2003 by the design house of Escada. Escada Ibiza Hippie is a fruity fragrance with a blend of amber, pear, freesia, cranberry, litchi, water hyacinth, passion flower, musk, blond sandalwood and blackberry. This Cologne is recommended for casual wear." More Thoughts On This Pleasing Scent I do feel that this perfume is a pleasant addition to my small perfume collection. It's a scent I do only wear in the warmer months though - though I live in the South and we have more warmer months than cold ones thankfully. The fruit notes remind me of Spring and Summer, so it's typically not a scent I put on in the Fall and Winter times.
It is moderately priced (for me) at around $40 for this size bottle, though there are smaller sizes, other forms of sprays, as well as gift set bundles. You can easily purchase this Escada and other Escada scents at many perfume departments as well as a variety of on-line options.
I notice also that this spray lasts on my skin (and especially on my clothing) throughout the entire day. It seems to react well with my skin and not change or morph into some other weird scent as the day wears on - I smell the same thing I sprayed on in the morning that I do at night, just lighter. I love how the fruity notes linger and that I am not left with a musk or floral tone.
I do recommend
Escada's Ibiza Hippie to anyone wanting a fun and fruity spray on those nice Spring to Summer days!
