My main priorities in getting a new coffee maker were:
+ coffee is comparable to my french press
+ easier maintenance than french press

After reading the reviews here, i ordered one of these little appliances online. It took a slight bit of getting used to, but after about 2 weeks of use, i'm really happy with this little guy.

As one other reviewer said, the coffee will not turn out quite as strong as a french press (i use pete's coffee and i tend to like it strongly brewed). However, i've really grown to like the strength that the fcp240 brews - its a bit more mellow and not quite as edgy as the press. Other great things: you don't get nearly as much sediment with the fcp240 as you do with the french press. Coffee is much hotter (upon serving) than with a press, which ends up cooling the coffee as its brewed. Cleanup is about the same amt of work as with a press, although the overall maintenace is lower because i don't have to have a separate pot to boil water in. I just plug this badboy in and its ready to go. It is faster to brew a pot as well - you get coffee is about 4-5 minutes.

I really like this brewer. It's just what i was looking for.
