A Fistful of Dollars: The $10,000 Payday

Date of Review:  May 24, 2002
The Bottom Line: The prototype of The Man With No Name series of spaghetti westerns starring the immortal Clint Eastwood. Need I say more?
Review: Back in the days of black & white Television, the Ed Sullivan Show, and The Beatles as a new sensation there was a popular television show called Rawhide. Eric Fleming was the star but a handsome young actor with a pompadour hairstyle played the...

The Most Dangerous Man Alive

Date of Review:  Aug 31, 2002
The Bottom Line: The first of a long line of Westerns of a unique genre. Worth watching just to see the Clint Squint.
Review: Way back in 1964, a handsome young stranger stepped onto the dry desert landscape of the location shoot of a Western movie, and took the world by storm. He was The Man With No Name, played by Clint Eastwood. He was a genuine original in Western...

The Heart, Ramon. Don't Forget the Heart. Aim For the Heart

Date of Review:  Dec 4, 2007
The Bottom Line: A Fistful of Dollars is an Exciting, Intense Western from Sergio Leone & Co. Featuring an Amazing Performance from Clint Eastwood.
Review:
Ever since the dawn of cinema, one genre that became prominent in America was the Westerns. The story of good and evil fighting in the American west always saw cowboys shooting each other or fighting against evil and such. With great directors...

FISTFUL OF DOLLARS - worth every penny!

Date of Review:  Jun 2, 2009
The Bottom Line: Anything I can say further would be redundant. This flick needs to be on every DVD shelf out there.
Review: Fistful of Dollars is a bit like the very first Friday the 13th was back in the eighties. Friday the 13th was not the first flick of the slasher genre, but it was the first slasher flick to really break through to mainstream audiences and make a...

A Fistful of Dollars (1964)

Date of Review:  Jun 18, 2000
The Bottom Line: While not the best Leone-Eastwood film, it is historically important as it establishes 'The Man With No Name' persona. A solid, entertaining Western.
Review: Italian director Sergio Leone's best film is probably Once Upon a Time in America (1984). But he is best known for four 'spaghetti' westerns from the 1960s, filmed in Spain with American leads and Italian supporting actors.

Clint Eastwood,...

Eastwood's First Scoundrel Role

Date of Review:  Aug 21, 2001
The Bottom Line: "A Fistful of Dollars" set the standard for the modern Western movie.
Review: When I was younger, I used to think that Western movies were just plain dumb. It seemed like it always turned into a battle of the Good Guys (wearing the white hats) versus the Bad Guys (wearing the black hats) in a gun battle. They always seemed so...

The Birth of the Western; Spaghetti Style

Date of Review:  Apr 1, 2008
The Bottom Line: A work of pure genius
Review: A Fistful of Dollars (1964)

Sergio Leone had only directed one other movie before he plunged head first into the western genre. His first directorial effort was an impressive, but completely forgettable, sword and sandal epic called the...

Sergio Leone's FISTFUL OF DOLLARS

Date of Review:  Jan 8, 2002
The Bottom Line: Leone's FISTFUL OF DOLLARS is must-see cinema. Lots of action, drama, great acting, amazing sets, and impressive music make this one a classic in the western genre.
Review: A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, Sergio Leone's masterful 1964 western, has long been hailed a trendsetting film, and it created a new genre of violent and action packed westerns that took a very different(although I would argue better) approach to the genre...

Sauce for your spaghetti?

Date of Review:  Dec 6, 1999
Review: Okay. Let me state that I am an Eastwood fan, and this review is no reflection on the man or his career.

Fistful of Dollars was "the big one" in Clint Eastwood's career. It put him on the map. Lots of action, good short lines, and a plot...

Date of Review:  May 18, 2000
Review: A FISTFULL OF DOLLARS is the jumpstarter for Clint Eastwoods acting career and is considered one of the old western classics because it began the era of the spaghetti western. It's one of the first to portray the main character as neither a goodguy...
