Pros:  Highly maneuverable, great visibility, safe

Cons:  Third row seat gets in the way sometime.

Author's Review

I bought my 2002 EB Expedition in Oct of '01. I've driven it as my only vehicle since then and I am absolutely glad that I bought it. I'll probably buy another one soon!

My vehicle has the large 5.4L V8 engine, has a brush guard on the front and back as well. It's only 2WD but I don't take it off road any way. I got the brush guard to make sure any road kill I hit was just that, i.e., killed on the road.

I have over 59,000 miles on my Expedition, lots of in town driving and many miles on the highway. I can say with out a doubt this is the most comfortable vehicle I've every driven. I've own a Chevy Silverado, several Hondas, and an Oldsmobile Cutlass...I won't go back to any of those after driving in my Expedition. If you've never experienced sitting in a traffic jam and still being able to see a mile ahead then you've never sat behind the wheel of an SUV. I don't worry about people cutting in front of me cause I know that they are going to come out on the short end if they hit my truck. I can also see and anticipate problems with traffic a lot sooner that people in those little cars cause I can see around me a lot better than being hidden behind another SUV. And, I've got the power to get out of bad situations when I want to even if YOU can't get out of my way!

About gas mileage, I get around 14 MPG which I pay for by working hard at my job. Gas prices are going up and so are my gas bills but as long as I'm still working for a living, I'll decide how I spend my money. My grandkids just love riding in my Expedition. Everyone has a window and they can all watch the DVD player or listen to the CD and not be crammed together in a single back seat. I have enough cargo space that I don't have to pile things up on the roof or drag a trailer around.

I find driving around town in my Expedition to be just fine. I've got no problems parking since I'm a capable driver, smart enough to either find an open parking space or quite adapt in maneuvering my vehicle into normal a parking spot. I've seen much smaller vehicles that were obviously parked by idiots taking up more space than my Expedition! I also have no problem parking in my garage and my garage isn't anything special, it's just kept clean and used as a garage and not a storage shed!

Since I've had this vehicle, I have had to replace the front breaks twice and the rear breaks once. I've got a new set of tires after 55,000 miles which ain't bad. I have the engine serviced regularly so other that the above, I haven't spent much on maintaining this vehicle. I would expect to drive it for another 59,000 miles if I wanted.

The only think I would like to change about this vehicle is the third row seat. It is a pain to remove and weights a ton. Doesn't fold down flat at all but it does fold up and out of the way if you want to keep it in the vehicle (which I recommend).

All in all, this is a luxury vehicle that I knew wasn't going to be cheap nor economical when I bought it. I paid $33K brand new, but as I have said before, I work for a living so I decide how much I want to spend on a vehicle.

Yes, I drive a massive SUV with a huge front brush guard and I'm usually in the left hand lane so if you see me coming up in your tiny review view mirror, move to the right and I'll lead the rest of the way.
