A dryer that dries - what more could you want?
Date of Review: Nov 2, 2006
The Bottom Line: An attractive-looking dryer at a decent price that works as well as the best of them.
I bought this dryer one month ago as a set with the GLTF2940ES washer (like the previous reviewer), though I use them side by side rather than stacked. I am very happy with both machines.
I have been completely satisfied with this dryer so far. I mainly use the auto-dry option, which automatically senses when the clothes are dry. I like this feature because it prevents the clothes from getting over-dried. I find that my clothes come out nice and soft. I like that there are several temperature options including medium, medium-high (which I usually select) and high. I haven't yet tried using the rack for drying shoes etc. so I can't comment on that. I like that there is a stacking option because we plan to move within the next couple of years and I obviously don't know what kind of laundry space my next home will have.
The electronic controls are a little bit confusing at first if you've only ever had a machine with manual dials, but I got the hang of them quickly just by selecting different options.
It is best to leave about a half-inch of space between the washer and dryer if they are side by side as the washer may bang against the dryer on the final spin if you don't. The dryer itself is very quiet when operating.
I did a lot of research before selecting this laundry pair and I believe I got very good value for my money. A bonus is that the machines are great-looking, which is nice for us since our machines are in the kitchen area.
I should note that the door on our dryer appears to be ever-so-slightly bent - it doesn't lie completely flush against the machine near the bottom when I close it. This is hardly noticeable, however, and does not affect the functioning of the dryer at all. It may have gotten slightly bent during delivery.
