Ask anyone that knows me and they'll tell you that I take TONS of pictures!! All of my kids grew up with a camera in their faces from babies on and always groan when I whip one out to take a picture of the most mundane of occasions. Late last fall, I finally upgraded my old camera to the
Kodak Easy Share Z650 Digital Camera. But that doesn't mean I'm comfortable taking it just anywhere, especially many places near or especially in the water. So for many years, I've purchased this
Fuji QuickSnap Waterproof 800 35mm Film Camera for beach trips as well as trips to the pool, water parks, and even theme parks featuring water rides. For I often like to get up close and personal no matter what, and there's no worries getting this one wet when taking pictures in or near the water. Read on to find out more about a decent waterproof disposable camera that takes acceptable photographs of all your water loving fun vacation moments.
~~~The Single Use, Waterproof Camera~~~
This
Fuji QuickSnap Waterproof 800 35mm Film Camera is the perfect choice when you simply want to take lots of pictures near the water. Whether you are participating in water sports or are just lazing around in the pool and want to catch every trick your kid performs for you in the water, then this waterproof disposable camera is the one for you. According to product details:
This all-weather camera is ready for adventure. It's ideal for shooting outdoors in wet and snowy conditions, and operates up to 35 feet underwater! Features include: Outer casing protects camera from water, humidity, dust, dirt and sand. Waterproof up to 35 feet deep. Includes wrist strap. Fixed-focus lens for sharp, clear pictures. Larger-sized shutter release for easy operation. Pre-loaded with Fujicolor Superia-XTRA 800 speed film. There's typically 27 exposures loaded into each of these disposable cameras, so once your photos are taken just drop it by any photo processing center just as you would any other roll of 35mm film. Just remove the handy blue elastic wrist strap and it's ready for developing. The outer plastic casing is an attractive blue color and both the shutter release and the film winder are a matching green color. Just look through the view finder, frame your subject, and press the shutter release trigger. There's no zoom feature, however, so make sure you aren't too far away or you'll be disappointed in how distant your subject looks in the photos otherwise. And there's no flash, either, but this really shouldn't be much of an issue when around the water in broad daylight. Just make sure the sun is out and there's no shadows around and you should be fine. It's far from high tech, but this
Fuji QuickSnap Waterproof 800 35mm Film Camera can easily go where you wouldn't dare bring your more expensive camera in fear of ruining it with splashes of water.
~~~Price & Availability~~~
You can purchase this
Fuji QuickSnap Waterproof 800 35mm Film Camera in a single pack for around $9 each at most major retail chains where ever film and other one-time-use cameras are sold, although I've seen them in packs of 2 and even 4 for those that wish to stock up. Of course the price for developing is extra, so that's probably another $8 to $10 depending on where you get them developed, if you get double prints or not, and how fast you want them (one hour photo verses send out). I'm sure it's slightly cheaper to buy the multi-packs, so if you take alot of photos in or near the water on vacations, then the bigger packs make more sense. I personally like the
Kodak version better in appearance only as it's a bit smaller in size (more square verses more rectangular like this one is) and is darker blue in color. But the photo quality is about the same with both, and this
Fuji version is usually a bit less expensive than the
Kodak model. The first time we bought this one was way back in early 2001 while we were in Cancun, Mexico as we were going on a snorkeling trip. The price was probably double at the time but we thought it was the coolest thing ever! LOL So these handy outdoor, single-use cameras have been around for awhile. Currently, this
Fuji Quicksnap Waterproof 800 35mm Film Camera is sold out on
amazon.com, so it must be a highly popular item at this time of the year:

~~~Camera Experience~~~
As stated above, the first time I remember purchasing one of these
Fuji QuickSnap Waterproof 800 35mm Film Cameras was way back in 2001 when my husband and I went on a special trip to Cancun, Mexico. Since then, I'm bought countless more for trips to Daytona Beach, FL, Hilton Head, SC, and most recently, this year, to Destin, FL where my husband and I celebrated our 20 year wedding anniversary with NO KIDS tagging along!! I love taking lots of beach shots both in and out of the water, so all I have to do is strap this baby onto my wrist or arm and I'm all set!! We even went to the Blizzard Beach water park in Orlando, FL, one year and I took this camera on the water slides with us to catch every moment. I've also carried one along on the water rides at
Dollywood and even in our own
backyard swimming pool. We went to the lake with my brother and his family one year and rode jet skis and this camera tagged along on that trip as well. There's no worries about the camera getting wet, so it would even work on rainy days as well. I've got several great shots of my kids doing funny poses underwater in the pool, so there's countless ways to take photos around the water with this single-use, waterproof camera. Just remember to wind the film between shots and get within 4 feet or so of your subject for the best pictures. There's a counter showing how many shots you have left, and you'll hear a slight click when the shutter trigger is pressed as the photo is taken. The 800 speed film is fast enough to take action shots without your subject becoming one big blur. While the finished product isn't near as good as what you'd take on a fancy new digital camera, your fun-loving water related memories will be captures with decent quality. So stock up on a few of these
Fuji QuickSnap Waterproof 800 35mm Film Cameras today as there's plenty of summer vacations left to be enjoyed!
~~~Overall Recommendation~~~
No visit to a water park, beach, or even the local swimming pool would not be complete without bringing one of these
Fuji QuickSnap Waterproof 800 35mm Film Cameras along. It's affordable and captures all those fun water-loving vacation moments when you'd rather leave your more expensive camera at home. For you can take photos both in and out of the water with no worries about ruining a regular camera. It's waterproof, single-use, and contains 27 exposures that can easily be developed at any photo processing center for the same price you'd pay for a regular roll of 35mm film. My kids are always doing silly things in the water, so I want to capture every moment that I can! Whether we are on a family vacation somewhere tropical or just swimming around in our backyard swimming pool, this camera will most likely be tagging along and strapped onto my arm. For I often have to be ready at less than a moment's notice to get the best shots, and the elastic strap sure comes in handy. But no worries if it falls off as the camera actually FLOATS in the water. The picture quality is decent although not excellent, but no better or worse than most other single-use cameras. This one just happens to be designed for use around the water, so don't use the wetness factor as an excuse to not bring a camera along! In conclusion, I highly recommend this
Fuji QuickSnap Waterproof 800 35mm Film Camera for all those outdoor action shots both in and around the water. Good luck and happy photo shooting :-)
