Jimmy Eat World are ambitious about their Futures... But who isn't?

Date of Review:  Oct 19, 2004
The Bottom Line: Futures by Jimmy Eat World is good, not great but good.
Review: It's eerie how often I've seen the word "ambitious" lately, particularly when reading about new albums. Just in this last month or so, we've heard about Green Day's ambitious American Idiot, Good Charlotte's ambitious chronicles of Life And Death,...

Jimmy Eat World's Futures -- dark but ultimately fulfilling

Date of Review:  Nov 6, 2004
The Bottom Line: Takes some adjustment, but on the whole it's an improvement from the band's previous work
Review: Jimmy Eat World, after lurking around the indie scene, struck major pay-dirt with Bleed American, an album predestined for mainstream success with its hooky anthems and feel-good lyrics in hits like "The Middle" and "Sweetness." How the band would...

One of the best albums I've heard in a long time

Date of Review:  Feb 8, 2005
The Bottom Line: Captures the melody of the early albums, and mixes it in with the hard rock urgency of "Bleed American". One of their finest studio efforts so far.
Review: I've been a fan of Jimmy Eat World ever since I bought their first album "Static Prevails", and I've always loved the way they change their style on every album, but still manage to keep every track different from anything they've ever recorded...

Jimmy Eat World Look to the Futures

Date of Review:  May 18, 2005
The Bottom Line: Futures is a good album but lacks that extra oomph.
Review: Jimmy Eat World became a smash hit with their album Bleed American (which was later self-titled) thanks to feelgood, pop-rock anthems such as The Middle, Sweetness, and A Praise Chorus. They became the poster children for "emo," a genre I can barely...

Jimmy Eat World Undergoes a Futile Search for Clarity on Futures

Date of Review:  Dec 25, 2004
The Bottom Line: Futures is one of the worst, and most disappointing, albums of the year. Avoid it at all costs.
Review: In the pop punk world, Jimmy Eat World has gotten a bit of a pass when compared to their current counterparts. I speak, of course, of the Good Charlottes, the Simple Plans, and the New Found Glorys. This is because the band was able to craft solid...

Jimmy Eat World's Futures: I'm in Love With the Ordinary...

Date of Review:  Feb 16, 2005
The Bottom Line: Futures is a fun little album that eventually succumbs to drowning in its own ambition.
Review: I can't say I'm entirely sure what exactly prompted me to pick up Futures, the newest album from Jimmy Eat World. I guess I've been thinking about it for a long time, and it just...kinda...popped up, you know?

I mean, I don't have any...

Hands Down: GREATEST ALBUM OF THE LAST FIVE YEARS

Date of Review:  Mar 25, 2005
The Bottom Line: With a dash of heart and originality not seen in Alt Rock since... ANYBODY... Jimmy Eat World's fourth album is their ROCK MASTERPIECE... Deserves to be heard.
Review: HYPOTHESIS: (See Title) FUTURES. As I so boldly stated in the title, it is my opinion that FUTURES is the Best Album of the last Five Years, and that's saying quite a bit. So before you guys lynch me for treason... (How dare I speak out against...

Futures Looks Bright

Date of Review:  Sep 24, 2007
The Bottom Line: Buy this album, it will make you think about everything in your life, past, present of Future
Review: Futures by Jimmy Eat World is a masterpiece and not just the singles. The fourth installment from Jimmy Eat World goes back to the Clarity days of the band in terms of lyrics, musical feel and style. The songs on the album are written purely for...

The Futures Bright, The Futures Jimmy's

Date of Review:  Feb 18, 2008
The Bottom Line: Jimmy Eat World are an excellent band and their 'Futures' album is all the evidence you will need.
Review: Jimmy Eat World formed way back in 1993, however it was not until some years later that they'd become the household name that they are today. They started out small, releasing their first album in 1994 through Wooden Blue Records; it was aptly...
