Thoughtless design

The cooking grates are too high, are rounded and slippery. A small Chantel pot and top accidently slid off the front, right grate and the pot top cracked and broke the right corner of the GE glass cooktop. I had to replace this unit after having owned it for less than 6 months. I wonder why a breakable surface is used and why are the cooking grates set so high, why are they rounded and therefore, slippery? I have replaced this unit with a Jenn Aire, which has heavy cast iron, flat, non slippery grates and a heavy metal top. The cooking elements are slightly lowered too, so there is less chance of a pot tipping over.
