GE touchpanel failure

The touchpanel for oven control has so far been unreliable.  Initially it worked fine.  Then a couple of hours after installation, the panel showed an error code, which could not be cleared, and the touchpanel was inoperative.  A call to the service center led through a phone jungle until reaching someone who would listen.  The person said they would research the problem and call back.  I did not receive a call back.  But then after a few more hours, the touchpanel started working again.  Unreliable!  This range replaces a previous older GE range that also had an oven control failure.
