The Bottom Line: The features and result of the care it gives your clothes and energy bill far outweigh the hefty price tag. You save money in the long run! (please read update)
(Update - the heat fan stopped working on this, so I had to take advantage of the warrenty to get a refund, and another model. It would still dry, but not hot air, just lukewarm. Make sure you keep your warrenty up to date if purchasing.)
Let me tell you about my newest baby, Whirlpool GGW9250PL Gas Dryer. It has 8 cycles, 5 temperature settings and a Senseon Drying system. This system, designed by Whirlpool Institute of Fabric Science, saves 20 minutes on each load, and contemplates that it saves about 100 hours a year off of your machine and energy resources. I believe it! It takes me about 30 an hour to my normal 50 minutes in my previous loads and even then the other machine still had some items damp, such as jeans, and heavy sweaters, coats and such. Because over-drying results in shrinking, loss of color and fabric damage, the fact that it can do twice in the work in half the time will save your wardrobe last longer!
It also has an AccuDry Sensing system that detects moisture in the air and works to deter that. There is 4 way venting that pours through, allowing all the clothes to get equal heat. I like a non biased machine! This is front load, with a window to watch. It comes with a reversible side-swinging door with a front mounted lint screen and porcelain spill guard top. It stands 38" high and 27 " wide. The depth is measured at or around 31". It is large and roomy and has a bulky items cycle for heavy blankets and comforters, or large Sunday loads. When you open the door there is an interior light that allows you to search through and find something if you are in a hurry on those rushy Monday mornings!
This is really the best machine anyone could ever ask for! In addition to just being a blessing and making chores liveable, it has fancy add ons that really make you feel like a Domestic Goddess! It has an end of cycle signal, an on/off wrinkle shield, a drying rack, and a internal noise reduction feature. It really is the top of the line. Our clothes have never been softer, dryer, or better smelling. It absorbs dryer sheets, the lint is easy to clean out, it is not hard on my back or neck to reach in and grab the clothes anymore.
I would say that this is as good as it gets!
